West Suburban Community Pantry (WSCP) CEO Maeven Sipes was recently featured on NBC’s Chicago Today. During the segment, Maeven highlighted WSCP’s commitment to helping neighbors who face food insecurity and explained how our programs are designed to fill food gaps all year long.

In DuPage and Will Counties, around 1 in 4 children rely on free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch during the school year. When schools close for summer break, many of these kids suddenly lose consistent access to those meals. That’s where WSCP steps in: we help bridge this seasonal meal gap, making sure children and families have nutritious food on the table even when school cafeterias are closed.

Beyond summer, WSCP offers ongoing support, including grocery assistance, nutrition education, and community programs that empower families to thrive. We believe that access to healthy food shouldn’t be seasonal or conditional—it’s a basic need and a shared responsibility.
