WSCP to close online orders for Thursday, August 24. Heat procedures implemented.

To ensure our volunteers’ and team’s health and safety, we have instituted an extreme heat policy for all of our work centers. We require our volunteers and staff to take frequent breaks in a cooling room. We have abundant cold water readily available. We have trained our team to watch for any signs of heat-related illness.

Unfortunately, our online ordering center/warehouse is not air-conditioned. While we have employed temporary cooling units for the summer months, when the temperature outside is above 95 degrees, these units are insufficient to allow us to maintain the high capacity of our online operations.

Due to the extremely hot weather over the next few days, we are significantly minimizing the time our staff and volunteers are present in our online warehouse.  Additionally, because of our online warehouse’s high internal temperature, we are temporarily storing produce and perishable food for our online market in an alternate warehouse to maintain quality.  Therefore, we are closing online orders for this Thursday. We apologize for the inconvenience.

If you normally shop online, you can shop in-person on Thursday. Our in-person market will be open on Thursday.  We have suspended our frequency limits to accommodate this extra in-person opportunity.

We will resume normal operations this Saturday.
