Whether you’re looking for a one-time volunteer opportunity for a group,
or an ongoing opportunity for yourself, we have a wide array of ways to help.

How to volunteer

There’s a first time for everything! Simply create an account
to volunteer, then attend one of our new volunteer orientations.

Individual Volunteers (Ages 14+)

Volunteer At the Pantry

Thank you for considering sharing your time and talent with the West Suburban Community Pantry. The Pantry serves thousands of families facing food insecurity in DuPage and Will Counties. Volunteers support our mission by stocking shelves, sorting donations, packing online orders, loading cars and distributing online food orders. Other opportunities such as senior delivery, food rescue driving, and clerical work are available throughout the year.

Volunteers must meet the following requirements:

  • Able to remain active for 2 hours (limited seated positions are available)
  • Able to lift a gallon of milk in each hand (for all market positions)
  • At least 14 years of age

Volunteer shifts are available on the following dates and times:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday: 8am-3pm
  • Thursday: 8am-7:30pm
  • Saturday: 8am-2pm
  • Sunday: Closed

Ready to volunteer?

You will create an account for each individual volunteer. Be sure to make an easy to remember username & password and write them down! After completing the registration,  log back into your account to sign up for orientation.

Corporate & Community Groups

West Suburban Community Pantry welcomes groups to volunteer together. Volunteering is a great way for group members to connect with each other in new ways and support their community.

To arrange a time for your group to volunteer, please email: Volunteer Coordinator Colleen Loftus at volunteer@wscpantry.org.

Court Mandated Community Service (14+)

Below are examples of court community service accepted by the West Suburban Community Pantry. We do not accept violations that are violent, involve another person or are gun-related. 

  • DUI
  • Reckless driving
  • Speeding
  • Uninsured motorist
  • Minor drug possession
  • Curfew violation (under 18)

To confirm you meet our criteria, please send a photo of your ticket or sentencing paper to volunteer@wscpantry.org.  

Documentation must state:

  • Your Name
  • Case Number
  • Violation
  • Issuing County/City

Once we receive these documents and confirm you meet our criteria, you will need to register as a new volunteer here Community Service Hours

When you register, be sure to create an easy to remember username and password and write it down!

 After registering and creating your account, log back in, and sign up for orientation (found under the Opportunities tab). All volunteers must attend a one-hour orientation prior to volunteering. Once orientation is complete, you can begin to sign up for volunteer shifts in our Better Impact volunteer tracking system.  You will need your username and password to record your hours onsite on our timeclock computer.
