BOLINGBROOK, IL — Over the course of the 2023 growing season, the Bolingbrook Garden Club has given over 1,500 pounds of locally grown produce to the West Suburban Community Pantry. According to the club, this effort and dedication was coordinated by club member Dennis Dill who just donated the final community garden harvest totals this week.

Despite a summer drought, Bolingbrook Garden Club members grew a wide variety of vegetables, fruits, and herbs in community garden plots and home gardens, the club said in a release.

“These volunteers worked tirelessly, nurturing the soil and plants, and their hard work paid off in the form of a bountiful harvest,” the club said.

This year’s donation is a new record for the club.

“We believe that access to nutritious, locally grown food should be a right for all, and we are delighted to support those in need in our community,” the club said.
