Hunger Action Month: Take Action!
More individuals and families who were on the brink of food insecurity reached the breaking point this year with higher gas prices, inflation on the rise, and household budgets feeling the pinch. The national free breakfast and lunch program for all kids is over. These collective economic issues are why we’re seeing more people come through our doors.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Our 175,000 Meals Challenge for Hunger Action Month will be over October 20, and that’s coming soon! Be sure to donate to WSCP and every dollar will be matched up to 87,000 meals, thanks to a generous donor. Our customers also need gas cards to keep them working and living in our community. You can purchase a gas card at any gas station.
Volunteering your time and talent are also worth their weight in gold! WSCP has several ways that you can be involved and make an impact. Volunteers are the heartbeat of WSCP – we could not succeed without them! Signing up is easy – create an account, attend a new volunteer orientation, then register for a shift to get started. We welcome individuals and groups to restock shelves, sort food, and pack boxes, assist customers, and deliver boxes to our distribution points. Volunteers as young as age 8 are encouraged to participate and learn about volunteering through our “Kids Make a Difference” program. Learn more and create a volunteer account here to get started today!
