LIHEAP – Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program

Get help paying your home heating bills.

The LIHEAP program assists eligible households in paying their gas and/or electric bills.  Eligible households are determined by household size, income, geographical location, and type of fuel used.

Appointments for help with the LIHEAP application are available during the heating season, October 1 through May 31.

Gas Cards

WSCP offers gas cards to current clients to be used to get to work, to get your children to school, to get to doctor appointments, and to get back to the pantry for groceries.  Please contact Kristin to schedule an appointment: 630-948-8136 or

Financial Literacy

What is your savings IQ? Is your savings on track?

Periodically WSCP partners with Hope’s Front Door for a workshop session filled with practical ideas to establish your own savings plan and learn the steps that are necessary to get there.

SNAP – Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program

SNAP assists eligible people who need help buying food for themselves and their children. Benefits are delivered electronically through the Illinois Link card, and the dollar amount is based on the number of people in a household, income, and expenses. There is an income guideline to receive this benefit.

Assistance with SNAP applications is available at the Pantry. Please check the client waiting area at the pantry, or this page, for the next date.

Medicaid Application Assistance

The Pantry periodically offers assistance with applying for Medicaid.

Income Tax Assistance

A representative from Prairie State Legal Services answers basic questions about income tax filing, the earned income tax credit and other tax issues. Watch for signs in the Client Waiting Area for the next session.
