LIHEAP – Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program
Get help paying your home heating bills.
The LIHEAP program assists eligible households in paying their gas and/or electric bills. Eligible households are determined by household size, income, geographical location, and type of fuel used.
Appointments for help with the LIHEAP application are now being taken for the 2019-2020 heating season.

SNAP – Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program
SNAP assists eligible people who need help buying food for themselves and their children. Benefits are delivered electronically through the Illinois Link card, and the dollar amount is based on the number of people in a household, income, and expenses. There is an income guideline to receive this benefit.
Assistance with SNAP applications is available at the Pantry. Please check the client waiting area at the pantry, or this page, for the next date.

Medicaid Application Assistance
The Pantry periodically offers assistance with applying for Medicaid.

A representative from Prairie State Legal Services answers basic questions about income tax filing, the earned income tax credit and other tax issues.
